Something as simplistic as a table can be surprisingly complex in both the vast variety of types and functions but also with the intended uses and actual uses throughout the years and how they morphed over the years. One would think that something which at its fundamental level can be as simple as a book sitting across your lap or as ornate as hand-carved exotic wood with inlaid decorations or otherwise customized. Growing up as a child, we would always eat on the sofa and watch TV and talk about having family meals at the dining room table and as I grew up and got my own place the importance of the table changed more to that of a workstation and for a way of keeping our hairier “roommates” from stealing our food.
The simple table is fundamental to most of us for both it's literal and figurative purposes that serve a major role in how we develop as human beings.
