Knife Sheaths As An Individual Expression And Design Enhancement

Knives are one of the oldest and most widely used tools in history, and they are used as tools, weapons, and to some extent as a fashion accessory. It is difficult to determine what the very first "knife" was like, but it was probably mostly either a napped stone or a broken bone. That rudimentary tool has continuously evolved into the space age; using both basic and high-tech alloy materials to make some truly gorgeous pieces. Throughout the millennias, knife sheaths have continued to evolve, utilizing materials ranging from primitive style leather design to modern leather design (with or without inlays) to polished exotic wood or space-age thermoplastics like Kydex. All styles have their own advantages and disadvantages: Leather can be traditional or modern depending on the design; it's tough, but also attractive and stretchy to provide the best fit for the knife; however, if it gets wet, it takes far longer to dry; wood sheaths are the most aesthetic, however, they are also the least practical, but with good design and fitting they can work fine, Kydex thermoplastic comes in thousands of patterns and is the most practical design material around. Knives themselves make a statement based on their design (rugged and functional, ornate and fancy, or even a combination), as do sheaths, whether declaring a statement of practicality or an expression of artistic beauty, while the countless mounting options enhance both this statement and its usability. Due to the need for a precise fit, all of our knife sheaths are custom made to the item that they are designed to carry so please continue to check our inventory and if you see something that you like or have something custom in mind please reach out to us. When we find particularly well-designed knives from other companies we sometimes design a line of custom sheaths to further enhance their usefulness and beauty.
